Yacht builder Heesen announced the delivery of the first yacht in its new 50 meter Steel Class, Omaha.YN 18350, christened Omaha, has been delivered to her owners following intensive sea trials in the North Sea in favorable weather conditions, with seas ranging from calm to moderate.Omaha exceeded the contractual speed, reaching 16 knots, and proved to be extremely maneuverable in all conditions thanks to her large rudders in combination with the power steering unit. Newbuild ISA 50M Superyacht Sold

ISA Yachts announced the sale of a new 50-meter superyacht project to a repeat client, the third superyacht sold by the shipyard in the last two months. Featuring a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure, this new 50 meter (164 ft) superyacht is going to be the 12th superyacht to be built by the shipyard on the well proven ISA 47-50 meter platform of 499 Gross Tons. Harmoniously combining elegance and sportiness, it will incorporate some of the classic ISA features including the grand arches connecting the aft deck cockpit to the superstructure, the builder said.

Oceanco Delivers 110-meter Jubilee

The 110-meter motor yacht Jubilee delivered last week by Dutch builder Oceanco not only features a particularly striking exterior profile created by Lobanov Design and a distinguished interior by Sorgiovanni Designs, but also is the largest yacht ever built at Oceanco and has the distinction of being the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands. “Burgess introduced this project to Oceanco and we provided technical consultancy and project management as owner’s representative throughout the entire build process,” said Joe Cic, from Burgess.

Largest Ever Dutch-built Yacht Launched

Oceanco’s newly built mega yacht Jubilee, with exterior styling by Lobanov Design, grand interior by Sorgiovanni Designs and owner’s representation by Burgess, is the largest yacht ever built in The Netherlands. At 110m length over all, 16.4m beam and just over 4,500 GT, the head-turning yacht has a sleek and original elongated profile that flows elegantly from bow to stern; with no fewer than six decks, her progressively longer horizontal lines make Jubilee distinctive. Igor Lobanov has created a unique and architecturally challenging design which creates a visual effect of multi-level decks.

1923 Schooner Replica Completes Sailing Trials

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. (ESG) announced that the Columbia (ESG Hull 981) a steel hull exact replica of the historic Gloucester Fishing Schooner, has completed her sailing trials. The sailing trials were held on September 18, 2014 directly offshore of the beaches of Panama City, Florida. Ninety-one years earlier, the original Columbia was officially measured on October 27, 1923 just before her race with the Bluenose by Raymond J. Milgate, a marine surveyor of Halifax, N.S. The original Columbia was a 141’ classic wooden hull Gloucester Fishing Schooner built at the historic A.D.
