Damen, AkzoNobel Collaborate in Volvo Ocean Race

Damen Shipyards Group has announced its partnership with team AkzoNobel in the Volvo Ocean Race. The Dutch shipbuilding company has provided onshore workshop containers that act as mobile technical operations areas for the team’s supporting shore crews, enabling the team to achieve its aims. In this respect, the partnership was a natural choice for Damen that parallels the way in which the group works with its clients. The Volvo Ocean Race is a gruelling round-the-world yacht race, held every three years. The 2017-18 edition started in Alicante, Spain on 22 October 2017.

Kleven, Lürssen Partner to Build Explorer Vessel

Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven said it has signed a contract with German based luxury yacht designer and builder Lürssen to collaborate for the delivery of a 100-meter-long exploration vessel newbuild for a non-disclosed customer. Kleven said the vessel will be built, partly outfitted and technically finalized at Kleven Verft in Norway, before final outfitting at Lürssen’s Blohm+Voss facility in Hamburg, Germany. The Lürssen Group recently joined a group of investors to collectively inject nearly $40 million into Norwegian shipyard.

Fairline Yachts said it will display an extended range of its latest boats at Boot Düsseldorf 2018, the world’s largest indoor boat show hosted annually in Germany. AMELS Bags Order for 78-meter Full Custom Yacht

Dutch yacht builder AMELS announced a new order for a 78-meter AMELS Full Custom yacht (256 ft) by Espen Øino with the contract signed during the Monaco Yacht Show 2017. Kymeta, e3 Systems Perform First Superyacht Sea Trials

Kymeta, together with exclusive superyacht distribution partner e3 Systems, revealed that the superyacht White Rose of Drachs has been performing the first-ever motor yacht sea trials with Kymeta communications solutions over the last several months with successful results. Feadship Welcomes Venus Home to Holland

One of the most celebrated superyachts of recent years has arrived back in the Netherlands for the first time since her launch in 2012. The 78-meter Venus, originally launched in 2012, has returned home for her five-year Lloyd’s certification and various upgrade activities. This heralds the start of a hectic year for the Feadship refit and service team. ISA Sport 120 Set for World Debut

Hull #11 of the superyacht ISA Sport 120 range is ready for its official debut at the upcoming international boat shows in Cannes and Monaco. Launched in Ancona in July 2017, the 37-m superyacht from the Italian shipyard marks a transition towards a completely renewed course of the brand. Dutch shipbuilder DAMEN, in cooperation with its luxury yacht builder AMELS, has announced the sale of its second SeaXplorer – a highly customized 75-meter luxury expedition yacht with exceptional capability for heli-skiing, diving and other tropical and polar adventures. The SeaXplorer 75 stands out with not only a dive center and submersible hangar, but also a complete floating heliport for two aircraft. “Together with his guests, our client plans to visit some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the world,” comments Commercial Director Rose Damen.

Compositeworks Opens Office in Antibes

Compositeworks, a shipyard specializing in superyacht and megayacht refits in La Ciotat and La Rochelle, has opened a new office in Antibes. This decision follows the acquisition of the Atlantic Refit Center last September and is a result of continued strong growth across every sector of activity, from emergency repairs and planned maintenance to major superyacht refits involving complex transformations, the shipyard said. The new location also brings commercial services closer to clients, many of whom are based in the Antibes & Monaco area.

Oceanco Delivers 110-meter Jubilee

The 110-meter motor yacht Jubilee delivered last week by Dutch builder Oceanco not only features a particularly striking exterior profile created by Lobanov Design and a distinguished interior by Sorgiovanni Designs, but also is the largest yacht ever built at Oceanco and has the distinction of being the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands. “Burgess introduced this project to Oceanco and we provided technical consultancy and project management as owner’s representative throughout the entire build process,” said Joe Cic, from Burgess.

ISA Yachts Launches its First Yacht in Ancona

The launch of the 37m yacht Clorinda, hull #11 of the Sport 120 model, took place on July 5, 2017 in Ancona, Italy in the premises of ISA Yachts. In September 2017 she will debut at the International boat shows of Cannes and Montecarlo. Less than a year after the acquisition of ISA Yachts by the new property, Clorinda, whose construction began in October 2016, is the first yacht completed in the Ancona yard. ISA Yachts said the ISA Sport 120 is a model that strongly reflects the philosophy and aesthetic features of its production, representing an “icon” of the Italian brand.

Navico Acquires Naviop

Marine electronics manufacturer Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad and B&G brands, announced it has finalized an agreement to acquire marine monitoring and control systems provider Naviop. Providing the integration framework to capture data from all boating systems, Naviop creates a digital ecosystem on boats outfitted with Simrad, Lowrance and B&G marine electronics, with the multifunction display serving as the hub for complete system control and information. “For years, auto manufacturers have provided consumers with a complete integration solution at their fingertips, and we, as a marine industry have fallen behind the curve to provide the same level of convenience and control,” said Leif Ottosson, Navico CEO. “With Naviop, we have taken a step forward to provide a comprehensive system-integration package for the boatbuilding market – a position that is already well-received with many of our boatbuilding customers.

MAN Engines for GTT 115 Yacht from Dynamiq

MAN Engines is again supplying 12-cylinder engines for the second tour de force by the up-and-coming yacht builder Dynamiq from Monaco: The 35-meter-long GTT 115 is equipped with two MAN V12-1650 engines, each with 1,213 kW (1,650 hp) at 2,300 rpm. The yacht will be unveiled to the public in the autumn at the Monaco Yacht Show. Two MAN V12-1800 engines are already providing the drive in the Jetsetter motor yacht – the first yacht from the newcomer Dynamiq, which made its debut in September 2016.

CoCo Yachts – Plenty Ships has won an order with Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company to build two aluminum high speed ferries. Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company has several fast ferries in its fleet, including two CoCo Yachts designed Coastal Cruiser 288, which are sailing between Zhuhai port and the Chinese Ferry Terminal in Hong Kong. The new designed Coastal Cruisers 356 will start the service between Zhuhai and the islands in the Pearl River delta. A Traditional Ship with a Contemporary Heart

Old photos show mid-nineteenth century sailing ships abandoned in the San Francisco Bay area by crews who caught gold fever. Some of these abandoned hulls lie under the modern day city of San Francisco. Over in Sausalito, just to the north of the famous Golden Gate Bridge, what may well be the spirit of one of those buried vessels has taken shape under the direction of Captain Alan Olson, who has several decades of experience building and restoring and sailing classic wooden ships.

Fairline Yachts Announces Production Expansion

British luxury boat manufacturer, Fairline Yachts, has announced it is set to expand its manufacturing capabilities by adding a new 17,000 square foot production facility at Oundle Marina - the boatyard’s original location when it was launched 50 years ago. Fairline’s year of Golden Moments has started successfully across the globe, with the brand reporting strong sales at boat shows in the UK, Europe and the United States. As a result, Fairline is expanding its production capabilities to accommodate the increase in demand.

Rossinavi Launches Endeavour II

Italian yard Rossinavi has launched its new 49.9-metre superyacht Endeavour II during a ceremony attended by 300 guests and shipyard staff. Known as project FR032, the yacht is built entirely out of aluminium to a design by Team 4 Design. Featuring exterior styling by Team For Design, naval architecture by Arrabito and interior décor by Salvagni Architetti, this displacement yacht comprises a total volume of less than 500GT. Largest Ever Dutch-built Yacht Launched

Oceanco’s newly built mega yacht Jubilee, with exterior styling by Lobanov Design, grand interior by Sorgiovanni Designs and owner’s representation by Burgess, is the largest yacht ever built in The Netherlands. Fairline Celebrates First Year Under New Management

British luxury boat manufacturer, Fairline Yachts, is celebrating one year since the all-new management team took over the boatyard. Under the leadership of a highly experienced marine industry management team, the company has employed 227 people, launched two new models (the Targa 53 OPEN and Squadron 53), updated the interior finishes across the 48ft model range, added a hardtop option and new interior to the Squadron 65 and unveiled plans for two highly anticipated and completely new boats.

Nine Logs Identified for Edna E. Lockwood Restoration

Shipwrights and apprentices at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum have identified all nine of the loblolly pine logs to be used in on the 2016-2018 log-hull restoration of the historic 1889 bugeye Edna E. Lockwood. “We’re very excited to have the final logs selected for this once-in-a-lifetime restoration,” said CBMM Boatyard Manager Michael Gorman. The team is restoring CBMM’s queen of the fleet and National Historic Landmark Edna E. Lockwood by replacing her nine-log hull, in adherence to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Vessel Preservation.

The Torqeedo Cruise FP (fixed pod) is the overall winner of the 2016 DAME Design Awards at METSTRADE, the annual marine equipment trade show held annually in Amsterdam. Bill Dixon, award jury chair, presented the prize to Christoph Ballin, Torqeedo co-founder and CEO. The overall winner is recognized as an outstanding example of groundbreaking research and development. The jury praised the Torqeedo Cruise FP for "its beautiful engineering, close attention to design detail, integrated approach, compact dimensions and realistic market price.

Feadship Savannah has won the International Superyacht Society award for Best Power 65m+, giving this 83.50-meter custom motoryacht a clean sweep of all the top superyacht industry awards. This superb achievement is a testimony to the visionary owner and his partnership with Feadship and CGDesign in creating the world’s first hybrid motor-megayacht. The ‘Best Power 65m+’ prize was awarded to Savannah and Feadship at the 26th edition of ISS’s Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale. When the America’s Cup fleet arrives in Bermuda in January 2017 a new destination resort and marina with a range of mooring options will be open to visitors eager to follow the action. Marinetek, an internationally acclaimed marina design and build company headquartered in Finland, is putting its expertise to work on a marina system that includes berths for 21 visiting megayachts at the resort’s King’s Point Marina. AFECO Expands into Superyacht Market

AFECO is expanding its presence in the superyacht market with a range of unique bespoke wastewater treatment management and support packages tailored specifically for the superyacht sector. The company recognises that the superyacht sector faces unique wastewater management challenges. Issues can arise as a result of the complexity of wastewater treatment systems, which are getting more complex due to the tightening of effluent consents. Process problems can occur due to mechanical inconsistencies, the result of needing bespoke systems in order to fit a vessel’s layout. Brooklin Boat Yard Begins Custom 91-foot Sloop

Brooklin Boat Yard of Brooklin, Maine, has begun construction of a custom 91-foot cold-molded, flush-deck sloop for a repeat customer. The design is by Bruce Johnson and the Brooklin Boat Yard design office. The boat will take 18 months to build and will be delivered in the spring of 2018. The yacht is designed primarily for high-performance cruising along coastal U.S. waters. Featuring a completely flush deck, the yacht has an aggressively raked bow and reverse transom, teak deck and a varnished mahogany toe rail.

Heesen Yachts announced the launch of the largest yacht in its fleet to date, the 70m  Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) superyacht Project Kometa. New 3 Watt LED Interior Cabin Light Launched

Larson Electronics has released a new 3 watt waterproof LED light, the LEDCL-280 LED boat light. Constructed with a single 3 watt LED, this cabin light produces 225 lumens of light while drawing 285mA. The beam produced by this LED boat light will illuminate approximately 45 feet of area, making it an effective flood light for small areas such as cabins and cockpits. The ball and socket style mounting system offers full articulation, allowing the light to be set at any angle desired. This light is designed for flush mounting, has no metal to metal contact and there are no exposed fasteners.

Vanquish Yachts in the Netherlands unveiled its new Vanquish VQ48sports boat. The new model was designed entirely from scratch, while integrating the typical lines of Vanquish Yachts. Even more than previous Vanquish boats, the VQ48 has a look & feel which is designed to clearly appeal to car lovers and three ordershave already been taken for the striking new design. Dutch Yacht for the American Market

Vanquish Yachts in the Netherlands has developed a new model in its sports boat range especially for the American market. The VQ46 Dual Console 46 foot cruiser offers hand-built quality with classic Vanquish elements of a high performance, maximum maneuverability and a striking design for owners who enjoy everything from sports fishing with friends to extended cruises with the family. The first VQ46 Dual Console is currently being built at the Vanquish facility in Holland, and will be ready in time for the 2016 season.

Feadship Looks Back at 2015 Launches

As 2015 draws to a close, Feadship can look back on a year full of launches. No less than six Feadships joined our globetrotting fleet this year, showcasing once again the diversity of the builder's custom creations. We start with the 57m Halo, outfitted in a record 33 months at the special request of the owner. A striking exterior profile and sensational sun deck made Halo a firm favourite among Feadship fans. The same applies to the 46.40m Kiss, with her exclusive owner’s deck and beautiful black livery, the most complex paint job ever undertaken on a superyacht.

USCG, Mercury Marine Partner on Diesel Outboard R&D

The U.S. Coast Guard announced its intent to enter into a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) with Mercury Marine to evaluate and test the advantages, disadvantages, required technology enhancements, performance, costs and other issues associated with diesel outboard engine technology. A test schedule has been proposed in which Mercury will provide and install two of their diesel outboard engines onto a selected Coast Guard boat platform; the Coast Guard Research and Development Center will outfit the platform with the necessary instrumentation to monitor power, speed, and fuel consumption; and a Coast Guard field unit will operate the boat for performance testing over a six-month period to collect information on reliability, maintenance requirements, and availability data.

New S. Florida Dealer for Llebroc Helm Chairs

Florida Yacht Interiors said it has been selected exclusive South Florida Dealer for Llebroc helm chairs serving customers in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. The 12-year-old firm will showcase the Llebroc helm chair line at the upcoming 2015 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, according to president Captain Chase Camacho. Florida Yacht Interiors services, a one-stop-shop, include design and yacht staging, custom cabinetry, upholstery, flooring, galley surfaces, built-in installations, interior lighting and window treatments and fine artwork and sculptures.

Damen’s New Yacht Range Sails to the Extremes

Damen’s new SeaXplorer yacht range brings true capability to expedition yachting, from extreme polar to remote tropical areas. The world’s first purpose-built, Polar Code compliant range of expedition yachts has been launched by Dutch shipbuilder Damen and its luxury superyacht division, Amels. Making its debut this week at the Monaco Yacht Show, the 65- to 100-meter SeaXplorer range includes three designs holding the capability to explore the seas’ extremes, from the poles to the tropics and everywhere in between.

Burger Boat Signs on to Build Explorer Yach

Burger Boat Company has signed on to a project to build a custom 31.55-meter full displacement steel and aluminum Explorer Motor Yacht. The vessel's modern exterior design and contemporary interior décor were developed by designer Luiz de Basto of Miami, who worked closely with the owner to create an oceangoing, long-range explorer yacht for cruising and fishing the world's sportfishing hot spots, the shipbuilder said. Powered by twin Caterpillar C18 main engines, the vessel will have a cruising range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles at 9.5 knots.

Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, announced it will launch the Dometic CRX Refrigerator/Freezer, a durable built-in refrigerator for boats, at the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), Sept. 15-17 in Louisville, Ky. The Dometic CRX is reportedly the first marine refrigerator with a patented, easy slide-out removable freezer compartment which transforms the unit into a larger capacity refrigerator-only, or a freezer-only unit. Crestron Debuts 4K Video Distribution Solution

Now 4K Ultra HD video can be enjoyed both on land and at sea. Crestron said it will display its full range of marine solutions, including the industry’s first and only complete, certified 4K video distribution solution, at the Monaco Yacht Show 2015. The 25th anniversary show will be held once again in the spectacular setting of Port Hercules, Monaco from 23 – 26 September 2015. Crestron is exhibiting on stand QAA7, which will be split into two zones to separately showcase the company’s specific solutions for owners and crew.

Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, a global provider of leisure products for the marine, truck, RV and automotive markets, announced it will showcase its new XTC-ZTC Double-Pass Watermaker at the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), Sept. 15-17 in Louisville, Ky. According to Dometic , the XTC-ZTC is the first and only fully automatic, integrated double-pass reverse-osmosis system that can purify every source of yacht water, including seawater, brackish water, lake water, river water or dockside water. It is also the first and only watermaker with mechanical override for full redundancy and peace of mind. And, no other watermaker can be operated and monitored remotely, via smartphone, tablet or computer: The XTC-ZTC can be operated from home, a car or anywhere via the Dometic’s Smart Touch Integrated Intelligence Control software. The XTC-ZTC is a double-pass system.

Italian builder Filippetti Yachts has unveiled the brand new Navetta 35 design. The new design is principally on a three-deck design -Lower, main, upper with an open air sun deck area. The 35 metre project has been developed to adhere to the strictest environmental standards, without sacrificing guests’ experiences with large deck spaces and a high level of comfort. The tri-deck superyacht will present a distinctive image, with a mix of sporty and elegant lines, with a wide bridge deck and forward facing windows for the master cabin on main deck below.
