Feadship Welcomes Venus Home to Holland

ISA Sport 120 Set for World Debut

Hull #11 of the superyacht ISA Sport 120 range is ready for its official debut at the upcoming international boat shows in Cannes and Monaco. Launched in Ancona in July 2017, the 37-m superyacht from the Italian shipyard marks a transition towards a completely renewed course of the brand. Onboard AC power technology company Xantrex informs it has expanded its Freedom series with the launch of four new models. The new series called Freedom X marks the ongoing evolution of the Freedom inverter first launched in 1992. “The Freedom name is synonymous with quality and reliability in the marine industry. The Freedom Marine, Freedom HF/HFS and Freedom SW inverter/chargers set benchmarks in the industry and have been installed in thousands of boats,” said Richard Gaudet, Vice President of Xantrex business at Schneider Electric. Costa Marine Canvas specializes in producing high end, custom marine furniture, soft goods, enclosures and covers. One of the most difficult of those tasks is creating windscreen enclosures for large and complex fly-bridge structures. A typical flybridge enclosure might have five 5-foot tall panels, ranging in various lengths, and combined to be 20 feet or more. While basic in appearance, each panel consists of 20 or more complex pieces of various materials fastened together by adhesives and sewing to fit and fasten to the bridge structure.

MTU Brings Latest Propulsion Systems to Cannes and Monaco

Rolls-Royce is showing off its latest state-of-the-art propulsion systems and service solutions from MTU for motor and sailing yachts at this year’s yacht shows in Cannes and Monaco. At the Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes, which takes place from September 12 to 17, MTU will be presenting a new close-to-production prototype hybrid system based on its 16-cylinder Series 2000 engine on Stand Jetee 179. The focus will also be on models of the Pininfarina bridge components and MTU’s Premium Yacht Service.

MarQuip Builds Exhaust with Silencer and SCR

Manufacturer of underwater exhaust outlets and water-cooled exhaust systems MarQuip said it is creating a marinized IMO TIER III-certified exhaust system for an Italian shipyard. Cast Polyurethane for High Impact, High Wear Applications

Although ship and boat building design engineers have traditionally specified parts made of rubber, plastic or steel when durability is required, many are considering cast polyurethanes as a new alternative for demanding, high-wear, abrasion and impact applications. Cast polyurethanes, also broadly referred to as urethanes, are tough, elastic materials that combine many of the performance advantages of high-tech plastics, metals and ceramics along with the resiliency and flexibility of rubber parts and are ideal for ship/boat building components.

MAN Engines is again supplying 12-cylinder engines for the second tour de force by the up-and-coming yacht builder Dynamiq from Monaco: The 35-meter-long GTT 115 is equipped with two MAN V12-1650 engines, each with 1,213 kW (1,650 hp) at 2,300 rpm. The yacht will be unveiled to the public in the autumn at the Monaco Yacht Show. Two MAN V12-1800 engines are already providing the drive in the Jetsetter motor yacht – the first yacht from the newcomer Dynamiq, which made its debut in September 2016.

Seakeeper 6 Unveiled for 40'-49' Vessels

Seakeeper Inc. has released its newest model, the Seakeeper 6, designed to eliminate up to 95 percent of boat roll on 40- to 49-foot vessels, up to roughly 20 tons. While providing a level of stabilization comparable to Seakeeper’s original model, the M7000, the new Seakeeper 6 is a considerable 40 percent smaller, draws 25 percent less power, and costs roughly half as much as the original model. As marine stabilization has evolved and spread over the past decade, customers’ expectations have evolved as well.

CoCo Yachts – Plenty Ships has won an order with Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company to build two aluminum high speed ferries. Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company has several fast ferries in its fleet, including two CoCo Yachts designed Coastal Cruiser 288, which are sailing between Zhuhai port and the Chinese Ferry Terminal in Hong Kong. The new designed Coastal Cruisers 356 will start the service between Zhuhai and the islands in the Pearl River delta. Speedcast, Inks Comms Deal with Diamond Offshore

Speedcast International Limited has secured a long-term contract with Diamond Offshore, who will leverage Speedcast’s managed communications services across 10 offshore rigs and one shore-based facility. “Diamond Offshore continues to adapt to the competitive nature of the industry,” said Tim Osburn, CIO, Diamond Offshore. “Through this agreement with Speedcast, Diamond Offshore increases its operational agility, benefiting from Speedcast’s world-class global customer support network. Under the terms of the new agreement, Speedcast’s service model yields increased flexibility for Diamond Offshore to better allocate bandwidth as the rigs’ communications requirements change and as Diamond Offshore’s operations move from one region of the world to the next. Diamond Offshore’s rigs – a combination of drillships and semisubmersibles – are currently located across the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Brazil and Asia Pacific.

First User-Defined ECDIS

Raytheon Anschütz introduces what it claims is the world’s first user-defined Electronic Chart Display and Information System, a system it will officially launch at NorShipping in Oslo. Raytheon Anschütz designed the new Synapsis ECDIS NX software based on direct input from customers. The software features a state-of-the-art design and stands out with an intuitive user interface, a clearly structured display, consistent operational concepts and modern interaction patterns such as touch operation, ‘drag and drop,’ pins and handles, and context-sensitive help dialogue.

SeaDek Adds Installers in New Zealand

Mercury Marine Launches Inboard Joystick Application

Mercury Marine, a manufacturer of recreational marine engines, has officially announced the launch of Joystick Piloting for Inboards on single engine and dual engine boats. The single engine application was displayed to the public at the Atlanta Boat Show in January, and now for the first time here at the Miami International Boat Show, Joystick Piloting for Inboards on dual engine applications is available for larger boats. “Joystick Piloting for Inboards has been the talk of the boat shows so far in 2017 and we are excited to expand that offering to larger boats that offer dual engines,” said John Buelow, Mercury Marine vice president of global category management. ATL offers two very unique configurations of drinking water bladder tanks that are both simple to set-up and to operate. The ATL Aqui-fer, boasts an innovative “space-saving” design that significantly reduces its overall footprint. The economical ATL Aqua-Flex has a more conventional shape that resembles a pillow.
