Hapag-Lloyd Cruises to name HANSEATIC inspiration

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will hold the naming ceremony for its second expedition ship, the HANSEATIC inspiration on October 13, 2019 against the backdrop of the Belgian port city of Antwerp. It will be the first time in the city’s history that an ocean-going cruise ship has been christened in Antwerp. The announcement was made at lunchtime today by the CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, Karl J. Pojer, who spoke to invited representatives of the press and the Deputy Mayor of Antwerp, Koen Kennis.

Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series Comes to a Close

The 5th Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series of monthly regattas from October to March ended today. Mercury Introduces V-6 FourStroke Outboards

Mercury Marine has introduced its new V-6 FourStroke outboard family and the expansion of its SeaPro commercial line at the 2018 Miami International Boat Show. The new engine family, which builds on Mercury’s 75-150hp FourStroke outboards, features 175hp, 200hp and 225hp FourStroke outboards and a V-6 200hp SeaPro commercial outboard. The new Mercury FourStroke and SeaPro outboards are built on Mercury’s new 3.4-liter V-6 platform, which is designed to be powerful, light, compact and fuel-efficient. Heesen Delivers VanTom

VanTom, the sixth yacht in the popular 50 meter semi-displacement class designed by Frank Laupman at Omega Architects has been delivered. The delivery took place in international waters on February 14, 2018 after intensive tests in the rough winter waves of the North Sea. The sea trials took place on January 12 and 29 in Beaufort 4 and 6, with North Westerly winds and waves up to one meter. Chris-Craft Will Launch a New Design at the Miami Boat Show

Chris-Craft has announced the world premiere of the Launch 28 GT at a press conference at the 2018 Miami International Boat Show. The Launch 28 GT is a new hull and an entirely new design for Chris-Craft. The new Launch 28 GT has a walk-through transom and reversible sun pad that moves forward and backward for lounging, or additional seating while underway. Galeon Yachts announced it will unveil its newest model, the 640 FLY, at the Miami Yacht Show. According to Galeon, the 640 FLY offers an innovative approach to layout and space distribution. The transformer model will follow a new design path to allow for bigger volume and better space distribution, all while maintaining the great exterior appearance the builder is known for. Yanmar Rolls Out New Marine Power Offerings

Yanmar has already introduced several new products for the marine market in 2018, including a new common rail inboard marine diesel engine touted as the world's smallest, higher horsepower offerings in its mid range series, and expanded joystick controls. Yanmar Marine International has launched the latest addition to its family of new generation common rail (CR) diesel engines, the compact Yanmar 3JH40 inboard engine, at boot Düsseldorf. The three-cylinder 3JH40 has been developed as the marine industry’s smallest CR inboard diesel engine, Yanmar said.

Ship cooling technology has a new name. Eminating from Finland, Gadcooler is a new ship cooling tech that is designed to save energy. Targeting the ferry and cruise ship sectors to start, the company recently announced its first installation success onboard Eckerö Line's cruise ferry m/s Finlandia over a period of two years. To help savve fuel the system uses existing onboard excess waste heat sources to provide chilled cooling water for the vessel's air-conditioning needs, replacing the need to run onboard cooling compressors.

Transat Jacques Vabre : Malizia II – YCM Clinches 4th Place

On Monday November 20, at 11.06.53 precisely, Malizia II – Yacht Club de Monaco, the first Monegasque IMOCA 60’ to compete in the Transat Jacques Vabre, crossed the finish line of the 13th edition of this double-hander race to take 4th in the IMOCA category. Crewed by Boris Herrmann and Thomas Ruyant, the 60’ (18.28m) mono-hull took 14 days 21 hours 31 minutes 53 seconds to cover the theoretical course of 4,350 nautical miles from Le Havre at an average speed of 12.18 knots, but actually sailed 4,805nm at an average 13.44 knots.

New Grand Banks Motor Yacht Completes Sea Trials

Caterpillar Marine has announced the successful sea trial of the Grand Banks Yachts, Ltd. GB60-03 which is powered by a pair of Cat C12.9 supercharged and turbocharged diesel engines. GB60-03 has a length of 65' (19.9m), a beam of 19' (5.85m) and a draft of 4' (1.4m). During the successful sea trial, GB60-03 achieved a top speed of 33 knots. The common rail C12.9’s installed in GB60-03 are capable of delivering 1000mhp@2300rpm while meeting EPA Tier 3, IMO II, EU Stage IIIA and RCD emission requirements.

John Deere Rolls Out Trio of Marine Engines

John Deere Power Systems has expanded its lineup with three new marine engines available for order from early 2018. The new 4.5L PowerTech 4045SFM85 offers high power to weight ratio for repowering and new vessel construction, and is ideal for planing and semi-displacement hulls, the manufacturer said. It has two ratings for light-duty commercial vessels, high-speed governmental applications and high-speed pleasure craft, which includes an M4 rating with 205 kW (275 hp) at 2,600 rpm and M5 rating with 235 kW (315 hp) at 2,800 rpm. Honda Marine Enters OEM Deal with Crevalle Boats

Honda Marine, a division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. and marketer of a complete range of marine outboard four-stroke motors ranging from 2.3 to 250 horsepower, announced a new OEM supply agreement with Wildwood, Fla. based boat builder Crevalle Boats. Quad Marine Receives Patent for Its Electric Catamarn

Quad Marine has been granted its first patent from the USPTO. The patent covers various elements of the company’s Quad 44 electric catamaran and confirms the innovative nature of the design and the utility of its features. The issued patent also provides protection against the appropriation of Quad Marine’s IP (intellectual property) by competitors and strengthens the company’s position in the market. A second patent is being processed by the USPTO which covers additional elements and will provide additional competitive advantages within the marine industry.

AMELS Bags Order for 78-meter Full Custom Yacht

Dutch yacht builder AMELS announced a new order for a 78-meter AMELS Full Custom yacht (256 ft) by Espen Øino with the contract signed during the Monaco Yacht Show 2017. Rolls-Royce to Power Ice Class Super Yacht

Rolls-Royce has won a contract to provide the propulsion and power electric systems for a new ice classified super yacht, the 70m King Shark, being built in Viareggio by Italian yacht company Rossinavi. The King Shark allows the owner the freedom to cruise the warm waters of the Caribbean and the freezing conditions of Antarctica in luxury.The vessel is equipped with amenities such as a soundproof cinema room, fully equipped gym, spa and massage room and owner cabin with large private terrace and round pool.
