Rescued Solo Yachtsmen Heading Home

Two yachtsmen who were rescued during a solo round-the-world race are making their way home.Irish national Gregor McGuckin was brought to Australia on board Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Ballarat, which returned to port Monday. Yacht Industry to Reach $51bln by 2020

In 2014, the global yacht charter market was valued at USD 35 billion and is projected to reach USD 51 billion by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 6.5% during the forecast period, according to Market Report. Region wise, Eastern Europe is expected to see the largest growth of 7.2% annually with other regions growing at an average rate of 6.5%. The emerging markets including the Middle East and China are expected to continue growing consistently. The Middle East yacht market has been experiencing an approximate annual growth of 5-10%.

Power Equipment Pty Ltd. from Melbourne, on Australia’s southern coast, is the new distributor for all Torqeedo products in Australia and New Zealand. Power Equipment holds a strong market position on the Fifth Continent with own subsidiaries throughout the country and a dealer network including Australia's largest naval store, JV Marine World. Marsol International Appoints Middle East Distributor for VersaDock

Marsol International has been appointed to expand beyond its current territories as the central Middle East distributor by VersaDock, the UK manufacturer of modular docking systems for commercial, defence and leisure applications. Marsol, which has been the distributor for VersaDock for the last six years, is now expanding its collaboration with VersaDock into the Indian Ocean, including the Maldives and Seychelles. The company will continue to cover the UAE and Gulf States. Based in Dubai, Marsol specializes in commercial and technical marine service solutions for SPM and offshore terminals.

RINA Expands Luxury Mega Yacht Services

Two luxury yachts recently received the final stamp to join the fleet classified by RINA, a classification company in the Middle East. To celebrate the event a reception was held during Dubai Boat Show on March 2, which was attended by major players in the yacht sector. One of the vessels named DUBAI, classed as a luxury mega yacht, is 162m long. The vessel was designed by Winch Design and will sail under the UAE flag. DUBAI is ranked as being the third largest and most luxurious mega yacht in the world today. The second vessel classed by RINA is QUATTROELLE, an 86m yacht.

Peak Shipping Season Is Approaching For United Yacht Transport

Spring is the busiest season for United Yacht Transport, the North American leader in boat transport. The international boat transporters are set to complete various shipments in the upcoming months. In the beginning of the year, the company did an incredible job making a shipment in the Mediterranean region. As a result, they will now be setting sail on more voyages across the globe. Some of the locations United Yacht Transport will be traveling to in the next few months include Italy, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Spain, and St. Thomas.

KVH Expands mini-VSAT Broadband Network

KVH Industries, Inc. expanded the capacity of its mini-VSAT Broadband network with two upgrades recently, supporting growing customer demand for broadband at sea. One expansion added a new satellite beam that doubled the mini-VSAT Broadband network capacity in the North Atlantic Ocean region, including Canada’s Hudson Bay. The second expansion added a new beam across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to add 30 percent more capacity across areas such as the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

Yemen Rolls out Maritime Security Zone

Yemen is establishing a maritime security zone along the country's 2,500 kilometre-long coastline to deter illegal immigrants from entering the country, reports The Middle East Monitor. The zone encompasses around 30 per cent of Yemen's territorial waters as determined by internationally-agreed limits, says the head of the Yemeni Coast Guard, Brigadier Ahmed Subhi. Coast Guard personnel are patrolling around the clock to maintain the secure waters. According to Subhi, the illegal migrants to Yemen usually originate in Africa.

New STS900 Chiller Delivered to Trinity Yachts

Dometic Marine, a division of Dometic Group, has signed an agreement with Trinity Yachts, LLC to provide the high-capacity Dometic STS900 chiller for Trinity’s TO62 vessel, a 194-foot superyacht. The new STS900 is a chiller for yachts up to 200 feet, providing 75 tons of cooling capacity and 75 kilowatts of heat. It offers advanced features to adjust to extreme seawater temperatures, regulate water flow through the system, reduce stress on the boat generator, simplify maintenance and ensure optimal operation.
