YSA Design Interiors Ideas for Bellissima

Stand-out gastronomic attractions on board MSC Bellissima will be served up in spaces that YSA Design believes deliver a first shipboard example of contemporary industrial restaurant design, and in a re-envisioned version of the chocolaterie that proved such a hit on Bellissima’s predecessor. Named at a star-studded ceremony in Southampton by Godmother Sophia Loren in early March, the 5,686-passenger capacity, 171,598gt luxury ship is now on its maiden voyage to the Western Mediterranean. MSC Bellissima is the second ship in MSC Cruises’ innovative Meraviglia-class.

US Flag Registry Now a Reality for Large Yachts

With the stroke of President Trump's pen on Monday, August 13, 2018, U.S. yacht owners are now able to fly an American flag and register their yachts - over 300 GT - in the United States.This new legislation modernizes outdated laws and brings the United States in line with current times, according to a yachting trade association. "This has been a significant issue that the U.S. Superyacht Association (USSA) has spent nearly a decade working to correct," said Kate Pearson, USSA Chair and vice president of business development of Safe Harbor Marinas.

Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series Comes to a Close

The 5th Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series of monthly regattas from October to March ended today. Organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco, in collaboration with technical clothing supplier SLAM, the meetings offer international teams an opportunity to establish their winter base in the Principality before the main season starts. Monaco, a veritable capital of yachting, attracts talent from all walks of life as evidenced by the 260-plus sailors from 11 nationalities on 180 boats, who descended on Monaco over the winter to compete in a total of 58 races.

Heesen Sells Biggest Yacht to Date

Heesen has sold YN 19480 - Project Cosmos – an 80.07-meter all-aluminium FDHF motor yacht for delivery in April 2022. This is the second contract sealed by the pioneering Dutch shipyard in 2018, reaffirming the positive trend that began last year with the sale of no less than six yachts. Greek CG Nabs 1.3 tonnes of Cannabis

Greece's coast guard seized about 1.3 tonnes of processed cannabis, hidden aboard a foreign flagged fishing vessel intercepted off the southern island of Crete, it said on Sunday. The drug bust was the result of a three-day operation. Greek authorities had been informed by French customs that a suspect ship was sailing to the southeast of the island, possibly carrying illegal cargo. The operation involved four coast guard patrol vessels and two planes, one belonging to Frontex - the European border and coast guard agency.

Bay Ship and Yacht to Perform Maintenance on Balclutha

Bay Ship and Yacht Co. has announced it has once again been honored with the contract to perform maintenance on the historic sailing ship Balclutha. This is the third time the reputable ship yard has been chosen to perform much-needed detailed maintenance on the 131-year-old ship. A three-mast, steel-hulled square-rigged sailing ship, the Balclutha is one of the last of her kind. “The Balclutha is truly a gem of American history. It is a rare day that you are able to see one of these grand old ladies high and dry in dock,” said Richard Maguire, Business Development Manager, Bay Ship & Yacht.
