Hall of Fame Marina gets new docks
Hall of Fame Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. is expanding with new, concrete floating docks. With the permitting phase complete, dock renovation with Bellingham Marine will commence this summer, with construction completed in fall, to accommodate Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) 2019. As Hall of Fame provides dockage for FLIBS, the Westrec marina anticipates hosting more superyachts up to 160-feet.The new piers will be 150-feet in length. The footprint is changing with about 600-feet of concrete floating docks replacing 400-feet of wooden docks.

Rolls-Royce Showcases New Yacht Engine at FLIBS
Rolls-Royce will be marketing the 10-cylinder version of its advanced MTU Series 2000 M96L yacht engine at the 2016 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from Nov. 3 to 7 . A 12-cylinder version of the engine will be showcased at MTU’s booth (engine tent 1212/1215). Also on display will be MTU’s Blue Vision New Generation ship automation with integrated Joystick System, which will allow visitors to steer a virtual yacht in a simulation. Legislation Aims to Strike Import Duty on Foreign Yachts
Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) plans to introduce in mid-November legislation that would allow U.S. citizens to purchase foreign-flagged yachts while in U.S. waters without paying a costly import duty prior to the sale. Frankel made the announcement during a November 10 press event hosted by the Florida Yacht Brokers Association (FYBA) at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS). Congressman Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) is expected to be a co-sponsor of the bill. “The interest in the marine industry is huge and it is a giant economic driver for South Florida,” said Congresswoman Frankel during the press conference.
